Hair Today

My husband has amazing hair. It’s my favorite thing about him. When he asked me to borrow my mother’s hair clippers from her so he could buzz it all off I told him rather unkindly that if he wanted to get rid of his hair, I would take NO part. I told him I would not help borrow, and I hoped it would hold him off for a few months at least (because he REALLY hates asking to borrow things).
I underestimated him.

My kids stood by his side the entire time.
“Are you going to get the hair off your armpits?” My daughter asked.
“Why did you not get the hair off your nibbles?” My son asked (nibbles meaning, um, chest).
By the way, the day my husband gets rid of his chest hair is the day I’m moving permanently to the couch. Men OUGHT to have chest hair. Isn’t it in the Bible somewhere?
Anyway, at least hair grows back. But to get rid of what I love most about that man’s physicality just DAYS before my birthday?!?!
There’s only one word for it: cruelty.

  1. Jeremy wishes he could do this. He has wonderful hair, and would NOT look like your husband with it shaved… I’ve managed to hold him off this long, and will probably continue to win, now that he’s a doctor, and can’t afford to look unprofessional (silly)… That is pretty terrible timing, though…

I thought Danny’s would look awful because his head has a different shape (you can see it from the back), but it didn’t look as bad as I thought. But it’s still not my favorite. Maybe I can talk him into being a doctor when he grows up?

  2. Haha, Jesse threatens to buzz his hair sometimes. I always tell him no. I really hope he’s not serious!!
Also, I agree. Men are supposed to have chest hair, and removing it is far weirder than having it!

STAND YOUR GROUND! And yes, there’s something unnatural about men having bare nibbles. Seriously unnatural. Unless they’re on the Olympic Swim Team.

  3. I love the way my sis-in-law Ami put it: “A man should have a proud amount of chest hair.”

    I fully agree.

My Dad has a TON of it. It never entered my mind that a man wouldn’t be covered in chest hair until a met a kid in Junior High who had less hair on his belly than I did (sad, but true). It was then that I decided that man I married would be hairy. Very.

  4. Ugh… I WISH Zach would cut his!!! It’s getting to be disgusting…

  5. Steve shaved his head with a RAZOR the day before family pics once. Men! Lol.

That’s messed up!!!! Gosh, there’s so many guys that would kill to have as much hair as he does. He should donate it, or something. Haha.
